Congratulations to Central's Class of 2022 Illinois State Scholars: Morgan Ahle, Avery Budde, Landon Eversgerd, Riley Gebke, Austyn Jansen, Riley Jansen, Hannah Kampwerth, Lucia Knapp, Isabella Kuhl, CJ Langenhorst, Reagan MacCauley, Brooke Rakers, Olivia Robke, Eden Rolves, Maggie Schrage, Elizabeth Schroeder, Kameron Sigler, Luke Strubhart, Reaghan Tebbe, AJ Tolan, Ava Varel, & Fletcher Vogt. These 22 seniors ranked in the top 10% academically in the State of Illinois based on their unweighted cumulative GPA and ACT or SAT scores at the end of their junior year. 22 students earning this honor is a school record. They will be honored with a Certificate at Central's Academic Award night on May 11th. Tomorrow at the beginning of Advisory these students will need to report to the Commons area for a group picture.

KC is still registering students for Spring Jump Start classes. This is a great opportunity for students to take a college general education class at half the tuition price. Also, every student enrolled for a class or classes in the spring will be eligible for an additional one time grant distribution of $500 (associated with COVID funds aimed at reducing student barriers) that would be highly sufficient to offset the remaining cost of the tuition. Forms were posted in the Class of 2022 & 2023 google classrooms. Anyone else interested can see their counselor for the necessary paperwork.

Seniors: The December Scholarship list is posted in the Class of 2022 Google classroom. It is also posted on the school website next to the book catalog tab when you arrow over on the scroll bar under the picture.

It's time again to spread some Christmas cheer! The Service Club will be selling candy cane grams this week for $1 each. All money raised will benefit the BCMW toy drive to help those who need a little extra at Christmastime. Bring your money and send a candy cane to all of your Cougar friends! Candy canes will be delivered on exam review days.

The weather is getting colder and your freezers are getting empty! Go shoot some deer. When you do, be sure to send Ms. Carlson a picture for our biggest deer contest!
If you signed up for the contest and got a deer, email Ms. Carlson, a picture of your scale, you and your deer, and your deer tag. Label the email "Deer Contest" you can submit deer through all deer seasons! Deer season ends January 16th this year

The holiday season, which is right around the corner, can be an exciting time of year as we decorate our homes, shop for items for loved ones, excitedly anticipate receiving new electronic items, clothes, games, or gadgets, and look forward to gathering together with family and friends. Unfortunately, for some families the holidays are not as bright and exciting because they are going through personal difficulties, health problems, financial hardships, etc. Further, due to all of the changes and challenges that Covid 19 has brought into our world, there are families who have lost jobs, lost loved ones, lost their health, or are experiencing other personal crisis. As part of the amazing community that we live in, we have many generous, caring individuals and families who want to help brighten the holiday season for those who may be going through difficult times by assisting them with gifts, Christmas meals, and personal care items. If your family is currently battling its way through some difficult days and could use some Holiday Cheer to help you on your journey, please e-mail our School Social Worker, Mara Koerkenmeier at mkoerkenmeier@centralcougars.org. Assistance will be provided while maintaining your family’s privacy.
